Events and Festivals in Cape Town, South Africa

No matter what time of the year it is, there’s always something happening in Cape Town. Dreams To Reality gives volunteers from all over the world the opportunity to not only work with and help children in underprivileged communities, we also allow our volunteers to explore and make the most of the fun events and festivals that Cape Town offers.

Kirstenbosch Sundown Concerts
When: late Novemner – early March, Every Sunday
The concerts feature a broad range of musical performances and a sunset backdrop of the world famous botanical garden. A must for anyone who wants to beat the Sunday blues.

J&B Met
When: January
The glitz, glamour and festivities of the J&B Met horse races makes it a top attraction. The outrageous fashion, delicious food, and top entertainment certainly certainly adds to the festive spirit of the occasion.

Up The Creek
When: February
A weekend music festival featuring the best local bands, Up the Creek takes place on the banks of the Breede River, allowing for fun summer frollicking.

Cape Argus Cycle Tour
When: early March
Every year 38 000 cyclists of all ages and fitness levels endeavour to complete the scenic 105 km route around the beautiful Cape Peninsula. It’s one of the biggest sporting events on the Cape Town calendar and the whole city is transformed into playground for festive supporters.

Cape Town International Jazz Festival
When: early April
The Cape Town Jazz Festival is one of the top five jazz events in the world and annually sees over 40 local and international artists improvising toe-tapping beats.

Wacky Wine Weekend
When: early June
A crazy weekend in Roberstson, where you get to go wild with the help of a few bottles of wine from over 45 regional wineries and take part in a range of zany activities like vineyard quad biking, wine diving and Italian pole climbing.

Rocking the Daisies
When: mid-September
Pack warm clothes and make sure your camping gear is sorted because this music festival is not to be missed. Over the past two years they’ve featured awesome international band and some of the country’s biggest rock, blues, pop and folk bands.

Hermanus Whale Festival
When: late September
The Hermanus Whale Festival is a 10 day festival during which you can spot whales, visit art gallery’s, enjoy live music, and stand-up comedy.
