  • My name is Ella, I’m 25 from Australia and this is my third time volunteering in South Africa. It’s hard to put into words how much I love this place and how much South Africa has changed my life. I’ve volunteered in the childcare, teaching, sports development and surf outreach programs and loved all of them. Each program comes with the privilege of helping and supporting the children and young people from the township Capricorn. My experiences getting to know the kids and being apart of each program has been the most rewarding, enjoyable, at times emotional and inspirational times of my life.

  • My name is Donya Tarek, I'm 25 from Egypt. I volunteered in the teaching project in Muizenberg, Cape Town for 1 week. Although one week was a very short period of time but this was one of the best experiences I've ever had in my life. I can literally say that this 1 week has changed a lot in me and how I see the world around me. The amount of love and warmth that I felt around those kids is inexplicable. I was surprised by how organized and helpful the team was, everything was just perfect. I loved how I could see the passion and urge to make a difference in each of the team members' eyes and how the smallest thing I did with the kids really made a difference. In this very short time, I fell in love with every part of Cape Town and with every single person I met there. It was a happy, emotional and definitely an impactful experience. It's been 2 months already and I can't seem to get over this experience. I will definitely come back to Muizenberg one day.

  • Best experience of my life! Went for 3 weeks in 2017 and needed to come back, did a 2 month stint over summer 2018/2019 and all I want to do is go back. Was on surf outreach program and I loved every minute. Made life long connections with both kids and volunteers and everyone else I met. The kids brought me so much joy that every weekend would come and I’d miss them for the two days we didn’t have program. I constantly miss the kids and cannot wait to return as soon as I can and watch them develop, they are the most amazing group of young individuals. The fellow volunteers I have remained friends with and still talk, these friends made so many funny stories and we experienced so much of South Africa together that we will always hold the memories and make more. I also felt the staff were great and very knowledgeable and they were definitely looking out for the kids needs and ours and you could see the kids respect for them. All I wish is to be back surfing with those kids in muizenberg.
